Chattanooga, Tennessee
1963
The Interstate highway construction was in full swing, car travel was the future and motels were proliferating. The client had an idea for large plywood panel prefabrication of motel rooms.
Our project was to design attractive, efficient rooms that could be prefabricated and assembled very quickly. All furniture was also built-in.
A general contractor in Chattanooga was involved and a four unit demonstration project was planned. Three units were to be a new office for the contractor and the fourth was a finished model room interior. It was built in eight hours, with the press and TV present.
Nothing further came of it, but five years later we would do a house for the general contractor (Mabry House).
