DJ'S on the BAY
Stugeon Bay, Wisconsin
1996
The site was a dedicated major restaurant site, and part of a waterfront redevelopment master plan, which also included a condo/hotel, boat dockage and waterfront promenade. It was adjacent to an old steel bridge that spanned Sturgeon Bay to enter Door County, a hugely popular summer resort area, and overlooked the Bay where it joined Green Bay.
DJ's was a total of 14'000 sq. ft. and was in fact two separate restaurants…….higher end dinning and bar with display cooking on the second floor……more casual dinning on the first floor…..each with it's own dedicated kitchen, which in the summer season also served a large outside dockside terrace.
Sturgeon Bay has a long maritime and shipbuilding history with a waterfront/industrial feeling which we adopted for the interior décor……photo blowups of it's shipbuilding history, soft sculpture using tugboat rope, exposed mechanical/electrical/sprinkler systems and significant interesting antiques gathered from around Door County.
