Finol House

Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

1995

The client, a wealthy businessman from Venezuela, owned a lot occupied by a "tear-down" house. But it was on a deep water canal, close to the Intracoastal Waterway, and he owned a very large yacht.
The house was designed for entertaining and family gatherings. A central living room with a high, heavy timber, hip roof opened to all other living spaces, as well as the master bedroom above.
Split face exposed concrete block and stucco were the exterior materials, along with a barrel tile roof.
Working drawings were just completed when the client found an older Spanish style house on large property, on deep water with a wide river view. We spent the next year remodeling and landscaping.
