Lincoln Park Davie

Davie, Florida

1984

The client was previously a house client (Janoura House). This project followed a year later, and was to be a 50,000 sq. ft. shopping center in the town of Davie.
Davie is way west of Hollywood, Florida and was known as a horse community because of the large acreage lots available. They also thought of themselves as "western" and "cowboy". So much so that the town passed a new ordinance requiring all commercial buildings on several major roads to follow a western theme. It was very specific, such as sidewalks had to be wood board walks.
Anyway, that explains the design, and as it would turn out, Lincoln Park Davie would be the only project to be built under that ordinance, as it was soon rescinded.
