MONTEGO BAY

Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

1977

The first of many projects for this client, it was located in an old strip shopping center which was divided into lots and sold separately. The design was kind of a three dimensional store front and set within three party walls.
It was a two story, post and beam structure, with all columns and beams being multiple 4"x12"s bolted together. The interior had somewhat of a bridge like quality. A major feature was a massive chimney with a fireplace on each floor, made with Coral rock cut into various thicknesses and laid in a rustic fashion. The roof was copper with multiple skylights and clerestories.
It was a great success and led to many more restaurant/bar projects, for this client and others.
