Pumpkin Shell

Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

1964

The client was a flamboyant real estate developer who needed a place to keep Suzie, his secretary ("And there he kept her very well"). Almost inadvertently six more rental units were included in the project.
The rentals each have the bedroom and bath on a balcony, over the sunken kitchen/dining area, and open to the Living Room below. The owner's apartment has three bedrooms, the Master Bedroom being a balcony overlooking the Living Room.
The structure is basically all concrete…….. block walls and precast concrete floor and roof slabs.
